My work as a GP has allowed me to work with families from within the NHS and schools for over 30 years.
I decided to train in child psychotherapy when I experienced the difficulty of navigating the EHCP system within my own family as I wanted to learn how to support families at a deeper level.
My work is relational as I provide a warm, non-judgmental space for children and young people to explore emotional difficulties, build resilience, and develop greater self-understanding.
The approach I use is integrative, evidence-based and trauma-informed while being grounded in psychodynamic and creative modalities. I am a registered member of the BACP and obtained an MA in integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy from the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE)
When helpful, arts and play therapy will be incorporated to enable clients to express themselves and process complex feelings that can feel beyond words. I like to work closely with parents and carers, offering attachment-focused, reflective support using a Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) model to strengthen relationships and promote lasting growth.
I offer my services as a therapist privately while working as a GP and therapist within the NHS
